Two Leads. Two Possible investigations.

Hey everyone,

I recently made a trip to the city of Guadalupe to visit the Far Western Tavern. I had a chance to speak with the manager and I was informed that they are willing to hear me out on why to let me investigate. I will be meeting with the manager again the beginning of September to sit down and figure things out. I also had a chance to stop by another local business where paranormal activity was reported and I was able to gain a phone number to call and set up an investigation. Hopefully September will be a great month for CAPR!

Hey guys, thanks for sicking with me. It TIME!

I just wanted to say thank you for constantly visiting my site and reading my blog even thought there has been no investigations or updates on the group lately. I am gonna be completely truthful in telling you that my financial situation was the main problem. It looks like I have everything settled with that, so now I should be able to get the lighting needed and get this show on the road. If everything works out as planned, this first investigation I am trying to line up should be a big one that nobody has attempted on the Central coast. Interesting EVP Story

I was watching TV with my grandmother one day and an old Taps episode was on so I tuned in to watch. We they were reviewing case footage and found some very clear EVPs. This caught my grandmothers interest so she asked what was going on. Once I explained what EVP's are and how they are caught, she instantly responded "that sounds like that ol record recorder I had". At that point she had my interest. She told me that she once had recorded dead air one time while making a record. Records are not reusable, and though the record was used and no good, my grandma listened to it to see what it recorded in the house. What my grandma claimed to hear were voices recorded in the record that were not hers. Now due to the fact that the old record recorders picked up any sound present, she never recorded when anyone else was home... There was no way to explain how the voices got on the recording. Once I heard this, my heart started racing. I asked her if she still had the record and/or the recorder, but after that she threw the record away and sold the recorder at her shop. I would love to get my hands on one of those!

What Type of Psychic: Empath. Final segment.

Empathy- The action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner.

The life of an empath is a tough one. Though this ability can be a life saver once mastered, the process of becoming aware and mastery is a very difficult task. Empaths show signs of their abilities at very young ages and they will usually peek at puberty. Those who are not aware of their abilities at that time may go through an absolute chaotic time in school and dealing with peers. Each one of us go through alot of extreme emotional fluxes during that time, and to also have to deal with the emotions of those around you going through the same changes is unthinkable. The development of extreme anti-social behavior is very likely for those unaware.

Empaths can range from the ability to sense shifts in basic moods and feelings of others, to the ability to sense illness or diseases in those who may not even be aware that they need medical attention. Empathic abilities require constant focus on and evaluation of the emotions that are being felt to be able to know if what is felt is yours or someone elses feelings. Meditation is key.

What Type of Psychic: Intuitive

Intuition- "The ability to perceive or know things without conscious reasoning".

Intuition is the psychic ability known by many names. Some people call it a "hunch", and to some it is our "sixth sense". Many know it as a premonition, while others just have a good or a bad "feeling" about something.

Though intuition is one of the more common abilities, it is one of the hardest to document or study as it can be logically explained in a few different ways. One of the most successful (though accidental and tragic) studies on this ability was done by a paranormal minded psychiatrist named Ian Stevenson. He is said to have recorded 19 separate incidents of premonitions two weeks before the sailing of the Titanic. We are not sure if Stevenson's research had any bearing on this number, but the Titanic set sail with only 58% of her capacity. Also 14 years before the Titanic set sail, a short story was written titled "Futility, or the Wreck of the Titan" by Morgan Robertson. In the story, a liner named Titan sank in the North Atlantic after striking an iceberg. There are many similarities between the Titan and the Titanic including the size of the ships, their three propellers, their water-tight compartments and the lack of sufficient lifeboats.

What Type of Psychic: Precognitive Dreamer

Precognitive dreaming is pretty much in line with clairvoyance due to the fact that both allow for the viewing of the future. The big difference between precog dreaming and clairvoyance is the fact that one requires the viewer to be asleep, right?

Well in a sense yea, but not exactly right. In 1819, H. M. Wesserman successfully projected messages to experimental subjects while they slept and dreamed. While the general content of the dream was successfully received, some of the characters in the dreams were changed.It is my belief that the true power of precog dreams is in the viewers ability to lucid dream, or to move consciously through your dream. I believe that though Wesserman's study was incredible, it was incomplete due to the lack of knowledge about lucid dreaming. With that knowledge, I believe Wesserman would have achieved a higher and more complete trans er of data.

Precognitive dreaming is interesting to me due to my belief that a viewer would have more control over what information is viewed as a precog dreamer rather than a clairvoyant. I would love to continue Wesserman's research if it hasn't been already!

What Kind of Psychic: Clairvoyance

Clairvoyance- The ability to perceive sights beyond the range of ordinary perception.

Clairvoyance or "clear seeing" is the ability to see images across time through your minds eye. This ability can vary from being able to see symbols and pictures to being a "remote viewer" or being able to see a "psychic movie" of situations across time (past, present, future). This is an ability that has been very beneficial to the United States government, as they used "Project Stargate" to "hunt down Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, find plutonium in North Korea and help drug enforcement agencies". It is also not unusual to hear about a psychic detective now days.

Clairvoyance is the most commonly know psychic ability. The ability to see the past, present and future are all equally helpful to us understanding ourselves.

What Kind of Psychic: Clairaudient

Clairaudience- The power or faculty of hearing something not present to the ear but regarded as having objective reality.

Clairaudience (meaning "clear hearing") involves the reception of extrasensory signals as a word, sound or for some even song. For some, this ability can prove to be quite a test to those not ready to deal with such an ability. There is a fine line between Clairaudience and schizophrenia. In my opinion, those with this ability can be subject to falling to such an illness if their ability is left untrained. So what is the difference between the two? Those with schizophrenia have voices looking to control your actions and have you do their bidding. Those who are Clairaudient have a voice that is looking to assist or communicate. The voice is working under the persons will and either tends to the persons needs or make contact within the persons personal boundaries. There are many ways clairaudience can manifest in a person like telepathy, those who can hear the past and those who can speak with spirits.

What Kind of Psychic?

My general rule for dealing with "psychics" is this: Be wary of those who call themselves psychic.

Why? That is answered easily by looking at the definition of the word.

"Psychic"- A person sensitive to things beyond the average range of perception.

That is a pretty vague statement, and if all the person can tell you about their ability is that it is a psychic one.... well they might not be what they claim. There are as of now, 5 broadly classified types of psychic abilities: Clairaudience, Clairvoyance, Precognitive dreamer, Intuitive, and Empathic. Each ability works in its own different way and have their own "area of expertise". I will be defining each one and showing how they all differ and benefit us in my upcoming blogs, so stay tuned.

Interesting Video Clip

Now this video is courtesy of Garden State Ghost Hunters and in the clip there are two investigators using thermal imaging to survey the area. What they appear to capture is a massive cold spot in the hallway. Is this paranormal or something easly debunked? Did the investigators take the proper action once they encountered this phenomena? What do we look like to Ghosts?

I was reading the comment left on one of my blogs by Autumforest and a comment that was made in the post made me think. We are trying to see ghosts and what they look like, but do we look normal to them?

I took some time and did a little research and came up with this....

And what I came up with is based on these two theories being true: All things are made of energy and energy produced at a different vibration level will create different things. My guess is that their view of the physical world is like us trying to get a clear view while sitting at the bottom of your pool. The water is too dense for our eyes to see a clear view and any movement in the water makes it that much worst. When we die we lose a large portion of our matter, and once we go to our spirit bodies the atmosphere here becomes too dense for us to see and possibly hear clearly (my opinion). Our vibration is too high to be here at that point. So by my theory, if you want to experience what it is like to be a ghost then the easiest way would be to go take a dip in the pool and see how well you see and hear under water.... P.S. ghosts don't have lungs so please hold your breath!

Can Ghosts Follow me Home?

We can never make a blanket statement about the activities of spirits. They are all individuals. We seldom worry about whether or not the people we meet will follow us home. The same conditions can usually be applied to ghosts.

Ghosts have to be approached one by one. They are all different and as such most ghosts have a reason to be wherever they happen to be. Sometimes it is unfinished business from when they were alive. Sometimes they haunt a given area because of a traumatic event or a sudden un-expected death. Some are afraid of moving on and stay where they feel the most comfortable. In a nutshell, they all have a different reason to be where we run across them.

So taking each haunting one by one and evaluating it carefully before doing an investigation can often answer the question before hand as to whether or not a spirit will follow us anywhere. Each site is different as each ghost is different, so follow some common sense and plan each investigation before starting. After all, there are no "givens" in paranormal investigating.

So generally speaking it is doubtful a ghost will follow you home. As I mentioned before they are all different. Some have different abilities then others and can go wherever they choose. Some are stuck at the location they haunt and couldn't follow you if they wanted. But most are at the location they haunt for a reason, and we the living are not it. Follow some basic common sense, and all will be well.

Fact or Fiction: Using Camera Film as an IR Filter?

I just recently heard a rumor that it is possible to use camera film as a cheap and effective infrared filter. Now for those in the paranormal industry know full well the cost (and the pains) of working with infrared lighting. To find that it is possible to get a stronger and more efficient IR at literally a fraction of the cost would be great for investigators worldwide.... but first we must put this theory to the test.... I will let you know if it works (and how to transform the film to an IR filter) very soon. Stay tuned!

Cleansing Oil: A Simple How-To

I had blogged a few days back that I would provide you my recipe for blessing oil. Well, it's time to be a man of my word.

There are many recipes for making a blessing oil (ask google), but it is my personal belief that the only vital ingredient needed to make the oil is your faith. I have come to the understanding that such things like holy water, smudge sticks, incense and the like are only the catalyst to bring out your own power. These objects give you confidence and the necessary courage to stand and fight.

Now, how to make cleansing oil. First your gonna need a container to hold your oil in. You won't need to make a whole lot of the oil since the blessing takes very little oil. Once you find a nice small glass or plastic container the next thing you will need are rose petals (or rose oil). Take two or three petals and roll them lightly in your palm. The point of this is to break open the petals to the fragrance will come out quicker, and it's fine to utter a prayer while doing this. Place the petals in the container and fill almost full with extra virgin olive oil (leave room to shake).

Now that you have prepped you oil, the next move is to bless it yourself. Take your oil outside with you during the day and find a place (yard, patio, beach, park) where you can sit as quiet as possible and take about 5 or so minutes to say a prayer of your belief and meditate while focusing on the oil. Once done, take the oil and leave in a window (whichever gets the most light) overnight. If you can't sit outside for any reason then it is fine to pray and meditate indoors. If you are agnostic then simply meditate while focusing on what you would like to accomplish with the oil.

The best way to use the oil is to dab a little bit of oil on your finger and mark ALL doorways and windows (above the door and window, not on them) with the symbol of your religion or for the agnostics, your thumbprint. Basically, if your a Christian then you would mark the doorways with a cross and so-on for other religions. Make sure to say a prayer (or make your statement) for EACH ROOM you bless.

Fung Shui: Is your Home Ghost Friendly?

Decorating and arranging your house can add flair and your own style to your personal living quarters and inspire a positive atmosphere, but why is that?

Any Fung Shui expert would be quick to point out that the way you decorate and upkeep your home is important to keeping positive qi or "chi" in and the negative chi out. If you understand Yin and Yang, then you know that Yin is the negative force and Yang is the positive. If creating Yang in your home promotes a healthy environment for the living, then who is the environment ripe for when your home is full of Yin energy? An imbalance of Yin energy creates what I like to call a "Ghost Friendly" environment in any home or office. Though I believe that fung shui can be a contributor to either the possibility of or to current paranormal activity occurring in your home, I don't believe it is the main reason. Now this is all just a theory as of now, but here are a few tips on how to create a perfect enviroment for the living only.

1. "Not too much, but not too little"- Clutter is a major no-no as far as fung shui, as clutter can stop the energy flow of a room. Fung shui translates out to "wind/water". Now having still water or still air creates an environment for bacteria, and energy works no different. Reducing clutter is key, but having too little or no decor at all can be just as bad and maybe even worst.

2. "Plant Life" - Having live and well tended plants inside and outside your house is another key aspect of good fung shui. Having plants in windows and doorways will create the Yang flow needed for a healthy environment. Well trimmed trees and bushes on your property will keep a good balance inside and out. On the flip side, dead plant life creates the opposite energy from live plant life.... Oh and setting a cheap little fountain you can get at any home supply at the entrance of your home is great too.

3. "Monitor EMF levels" - All beings emit an electro magnetic field. Your senses and mental well being are affected by the EMF levels you are exposed to. It only makes sense that the high EMF that home appliances and unprotected energy sources produce could have an affect on you. Become aware of areas of your home that need to be updated and protected. Protecting yourself and your family from high EMF can improve general mood in the home.

Like I said earlier, fung shui may not be the main reason you are experiencing unexplainable events, but by setting the environment in your favor you increase your chances of bringing relief to your home, or just keeping it safe.

EVP Review Complete

I have finished the review of the EVP session I did this past Tuesday. It seems to be more Natural phenomena where objects in the room seem to be moving on their own. I will be posting the findings in a few days.

Quick Paranormal Fixes to calm things down!

Move into a new home or start construction and come to find that your living in an infested home? I'm not talking about the infestation that you can fix with a few chemicals....

So you just found out that your home is haunted. First thought in a tenants mind usually is "What the heck do I do now!?", but if you can find some courage to stand your ground and you have a couple bucks to spare then there is a lot you can do. Though these methods don't remove ghosts from the property permanently, they can give you up to a few months of peace and a chance to find a more final solution.

One of the most common methods is by burning sage or incense. You can find both of these at your local head shop. While incense is cheaper (by like a buck) sage seems to last up to two months and incense last for a few weeks at the most. Another great way is with virgin olive oil. I will be blogging very soon about how to make clensing olive oil and a few other ways to take back your home (at least for a while).

These camcorders are both Polaroid Hi Def camcorders which are very affordable and take great footage shots. Kinda surprised by the quality of the footage due to it's price.

UFO Advocates Stirred up, By Russ Miles

Believers and long-time investigators of Unidentified Flying Objects phenomena expressed disappointment regarding the way Peter Jennings handled the ABC News Special Report recently aired to the United States television audience.

Attendees of the 14th ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL UFO CONGRESS CONVENTION and FILM FESTIVAL held March 6-12, 2005 in Laughlin, Nevada talked openly of having expected too much. Clearly distraught, disclosure enthusiasts were united in expressing their feelings of betrayal and of expecting to much. They expected Peter Jennings Special ABC News Report on UFOs to at least leave non-believers with a positive impression of this often disputed topic. However, even with such convincing research, photos, and documentation as was made available to the show’s producers to utilize by legitimate investigators, ABC still elected not to use most of the best material.

“The first hour of the broadcast was great,” said one disappointed viewer. “Then, in the second half, they turned it around in such a way as to leave millions undecided. ABC’s experts were skeptical of eye-witness sightings, and discounted any official cover-up or disinformation agenda regarding UFOs, extraterrestrials, flying saucers, and alien abductions by our government.”

In startling contrast to the Jennings’ report with its convenient, “Computer generated animation’s” the well informed 700 UFO Congress attendees saw “Real time/dated video footage.” A presentation showing hundreds of UFOs, extraterrestrial, or alien aerial craft was presented by Mexico’s most respected, “60 Minutes”, “Sunday To Sunday”, and “ECO” anchor & prestigious journalist, Jaime Maussan.

Maussan was but one of the over one-dozen distinguished speakers, scientists, researchers, UFO investigators, retired military analysts, renowned authors, university professors, and internationally acclaimed experts, assembled from around the world, who presented conclusive evidence of frequent alien visitations to Planet Earth.

The International view was overwhelmingly positive in agreement that UFOs are real and the implications of their growing willingness to allow themselves to be filmed is another indication that the populace of this planet needs to be brought up to speed.

The Safespace News Agency, a reality based video News Magazine has been established on the premise that THE MAINSTREAM NEWS IS THE COVER-UP!

Natural or Paranormal phenomena?

Your sitting at your kitchen table. You hear something slide on the counter, so you look up. You see a cup scoot from one end to the other and then.....-CRASH-... the cup is on the floor. You have got a ghost right? Not necessarily....

"Well, if a ghost didn't move the cup then what did?" Great question. I am assuming that we all know what energy is and that it is a natural thing, but beyond that we are still learning (if we had mastered energy, then we wouldn't get the chance to complain about the cost of filling our SUV's). One thing we are pretty sure of is that the earth radiates energy, and that certain spots of the earth radiate more energy than others. Now if your home is located on or near a spot that emits more energy than normal, then you could possibly be experiencing natural phenomena rather than paranormal (a.e. moving objects, non human noises, feeling like your not alone). While both types of phenomena are different in how they happen, they are both still amazing and worth investigating.

Funny EVP story

I am assuming everyone reading this blog knows what a "trigger object" is....

Well, during setup on my investigation at the Far Western I decided I would use a quarter as my trigger piece. Now everyone else had brought along beanie babies and balls to see if they could trigger activity from the children, and seeing as I was the only one who forgot to bring something I figured a quarter would be a perfect trigger object. I placed the quarter on the edge of a dinning table next to a DVR and said "Here is a quarter, if you can move it you can have it" and during review of that DVR we caught an EVP right after I spoke saying something to the effect of "I make my own money". FYI the far western started out as a hotel/betrothal in the early 1900's.

Ghost Hunting tips by Robert Benjamin

Ghost Hunting can be very fun and yet at times it can be one of the most terrifying things you will probably ever do in your life.
The following are just a few of the things folks have encountered during ghost hunting or paranormal investigations:

1. Smells: These smells can seem to come from no where, and develop instantly and disappear just as fast. The smells are often putrid like rotted meat, or like fresh bowel movements, and are very overpowering at times.

2. Apparitions: Some spirits appear as barely visible forms, while some become as solid and normal looking as a living person.

3. Clouds - Mists - Masses: Often fleeting shadows, things seen out of the corners of the eyes are encountered. Or a rolling black mass may appear, sometimes a whispy form like smoke is seen.

4. Disembodied voices: These are often heard and at times they can be very scary. Imagine being in a darkened room, and having something invisible whisper or even shout in your ear. These are not EVP's, but normal sounding speech.

5. Physical Sensations - Some ghost hunters have been touched, pinched, slapped, had their hair pulled, been scratched or even bitten by invisible entities.

6. Rappings - Scratching - and Knockings: In walls, ceilings and floors. Strange sounds and noises are often heard in haunted locations, as well as hearing what sounds like objects being dropped, or moved in nearby rooms.

7. Cold spots: Sometimes just before a spirit manifests they draw energy from the surroundings. Often a spot in one area of a room will suddenly become very cold. For example the temperature thoughout a room may average 75 degrees but in one corner or area, the temperature will suddenly plummet to 50 degrees or even colder. This is a sure sign of a spirits presence or a soon manifestation.

8. Power drains and equipment malfunctions: Like cold spots, when a spirit is drawing energy needed to become solid or more visible, they will often draw-in nearby energy, this energy can also come from batteries in video camers, and other devices. Often cameras, tape recorders, even lights will suddenly go haywire or stop working all together when a spirit is present.

Whether the creatures involved in a haunting are spirits of dead humans or whether they are demons, if one is trying to prove that they truly exist or if you are trying to disprove a haunting, then you must do paranormal investigations as a professional.

A professional Ghost Hunter or paranormal investigator needs to have the right tools. Here I will explain devices that every ghost hunter or paranormal investigator MUST have, if he or she is truly taking the phenomenon as real or as a business, and not as a joke.

1. Voice Recorder: It doesn't matter if you use a standard tape recorder or one of the new digital recorders, what does matter is the quality and the ability to use an external microphone. Try to get one that is of good quality, but make sure you get one that has a plug in microphone with a cable or cord so the end of the microphone is away from the recorder. The small all-in-one recorders that have the built in microphones, pick up a lot of the hiss and gear noise from the recorder when they are in record mode. A recorder is a necessity for recording EVP's. EVP's also called (electronic voice phenomenom) are a very unique and sometimes frightening thing that is often encountered in a haunted area. What an EVP is, is a voice or other communication that is heard on a tape or digital recorder during playback, that was not heard when the recorder was recording.

2. Film Camera: Do NOT use a digital camera because the photo will always be questioned as being fake, no matter how good it is, where if you use a film camera, you at least have the negatives as some proof. And unless you buy a high mega-pixel digital camera, the photo quality will be less than a nice cheap 35mm film camera.

3. Camcorder: A camera is good, but a camcorder is even better. Get one that uses a tape, either the small cassettes or one of the older models that use the full sized VHS tapes. I bought two of these older camcorders for under $75 each recently.

4. Thermal Imaging scopes or goggles: These capture the upper portion of the infrared light spectrum, which is emitted as heat by objects instead of simply reflected as light. Hotter objects, such as warm bodies, emit more of this light than cooler objects like trees or buildings. Often spirits that manifest have a temperature in their form that stands out in this spectrum, especially if a spirit is present in a cold location.

5. Night Vision scopes or goggles: These little devices have become very cheap, a nice night vision scope can now be purchased easily for under $200. They work by collecting the tiny amounts of light, including the lower portion of the infrared light spectrum, that are present but may be imperceptible to our eyes, and amplifying it to the point that we can easily observe the image.

6. Flashlight: Take along two small pocket ones for each team member. What can be worse then exploring a dark cellar or underground area, and having the lights or another flashlight fail.

7. Walkie Talkies: If you have a group of team members, and you are investigating a large location, walkie talkies are not just a good thing to have, but they can be a life saver at times.

8. Notebook and pencils: Often any electronic, electrical or other devices may fail in a haunted location, so it's very wise to carry along a small notebook and some pencils in case you need to keep some valuable notes.

9. Thermal Scanner: A hand held thermal scanner (thermometer) uses infrared technology to measure the surface temperature of material without touching it. You simply point at your target, pull the trigger and read the temperature on the lit LCD display.

One of the best tools I recommend, is also the cheapest, under $10 U.S. It is a computer software program that is made just for Ghost Hunting and Paranormal Investigations. I recently conducted an EVP session where I left one of my DVRs running overnight. What I have come across seems to fall under natural phenomena, but I am still looking into the possible reasons for the activity before I make a final call. Stay tuned!

Residual or Intellegent Haunting?

Which are you dealing with? Though the activity can seem the same, these are two very different types of haunts. Both can be bothersome to owners, but each needs to be handled different from the other before any relief can come to that location.

So how do you know which haunt you are dealing with? Residual haunts are basically just a recording of energy. The strong energy imprint plays itself over and over, unaware of the current surroundings. These haunts are said to have no awareness, but that is just theory. Locations of properties with high EMF readings are great for residuals, as the energy put out by the EMF source is the perfect battery to keep the ghostly scene going and going...

Intelligent haunts are exactly what they sound like. Entities that can interact and answer make up these types of haunts. They are fully aware of their situation and any changes to their environment. They have shown themselves to have wants and desires just like the living, and the willingness to protect what they value.

Breaking down the Orb

Many paranormal investigators are pretty skeptical when it comes to orbs. It is very easy to confuse objects common to a home as an orb (bugs, dust, reflection). Here are a few tips to help you know if what you have captured is in fact an orb....

When you are looking at a possible orb in a photo, you want to first look at the color of the orb. If you see a rainbow like haze on your orb, then chances are that it is not an orb. Look for something that is a perfect circle and make sure there is no signs of a reflection. Also make sure that your camera is still when taking the pic... any lights from equipment can cause distortions that could look like orbs if your camera isn't shock resistant.

When viewing possible orbs on video, watch the flight patterns and speed of the orb. Dust can move like an orb, especially if an air conditioner is active. Look for changes in direction that would contradict dust that is just going with the current of the air. Remember that bugs will show up blurry due to the wings and they tend to fly side to side.
